Aromem (pronouced "ARE-O-MEM" is Hebrew for "I will exalt". I had it in the back of my mind to start a band for awhile, but I've been waiting on Yah's timing as is always the best thing to do. It wasn't until this year though that I knew what the sound of our music was going to be and it's very different from anything I've done in the past. Never did I think that I would be writing songs with a Native American flair. Not that I don't have some roots in that culture, my grandfather is almost entirely a California Native. Funny how sometimes Yah brings things full circle.
Banjos, harmonicas, accordions, Native flutes: these are not instruments that I ever thought I would be using in my music. But here they are, and I'm in love with the sound. On one hand the music sounds like rock with its electric guitars, but also feels a bit like folk thanks to the nice twang of the banjo. And of course the Native Flute is the icing on the cake. I don't believe I've ever heard a more beautiful wind instrument.
We've released our first song called "Ancient Trail" which you can download from our BandCamp page or SoundCloud page at these links:
